Guide for Mercury Network's Integration with BytePro

The integration between Mercury Network and BytePro allows you to seamlessly use Mercury Network’s appraisal ordering system within your BytePro loan origination software. Within BytePro, you can place orders, retrieve status updates, and download any documents associated with the appraisal order - including the completed report in PDF and MISMO XML formats.

Creating a Mercury Network Account

Before you begin using the integration, you'll need a Mercury Network account. You can sign up for Mercury Network to gain access to the premiere online Vendor Management Platform (VMP), allowing lenders and AMCs to manage their entire appraisal workflow. It’s been used by more than 200,000 mortgage professionals since 2002 to completely automate the full “round trip” of tens of millions of appraisals, and you can use it too.

Use the tabs below to find the information you need.

Configure BytePro

To work with Mercury Network orders in BytePro, you'll first need to access the Appraisal Interface and enter your Mercury Network login.  To do so...

  1. In BytePro, open the loan file for which you want to place a new appraisal order.
  2. Click Interfaces then choose Appraisal.
    Interfaces
  3. In the list, click Mercury Network.
Don't use Mercury Network Enhanced because that's intended for VMP XSite users.

  4. In the window that appears, click Defaults. Then, in the dialog, enter your Mercury Network user name (your e-mail address) and password.  Click OK, and your login information will be stored so you won't need to enter it every time you place a new order in BytePro.

That's it - now you're ready to place new Mercury Network orders within BytePro.

Order a new appraisal

Here's how to start a brand new Mercury Network order in BytePro:

  1. In BytePro, open the loan file for which you want to order an appraisal.
  2. Click Interfaces then choose Appraisal.
    Interfaces
  3. In the list, click Mercury Network.
Don't use Mercury Network Enhanced because that's intended for VMP XSite users.

  4. In the window that appears, click Submit New Order.

  5. Now, a browser window will open so you can place a new Mercury Network order.

You'll already be logged into Mercury Network and there are a few things to know about placing an order this way:
    • Your Mercury Network Vendor Selection Settings will affect the order process.  See Some info about selection settings below.
    • The order form will be automatically populated with information available from the current BytePro loan file.
    • The File # field will already contain the BytePro file number.  It can't be edited, since this is what provides the linkage between the new order and your BytePro file.
    • Complete the order form as normal, particularly required fields like Due Date, Form Type, and acknowledge any Fee Notes or transaction fee.
    • When you click Finish, you'll see the normal options to upload attachments to the order.  Click Close in that window, and you'll return to BytePro and the Mercury Network interface.  In the LOS Order ID field, you'll now see the BytePro file number.

    • If you're done with the order, click Close to return to your BytePro loan file.

That's it. Now you'll be able to retrieve status updates and documents (including the completed report) directly in BytePro.

Some info about selection settings

While you're placing the order within BytePro, your Mercury Network Vendor Selection Settings apply just as they normally would.  So, after you've completed the first page of the order, click Next.  Depending on whether this order uses automatic order assignment, you'll see a couple of different things:

  • Using automatic order assignment:  You'll proceed to the final step of the order where you can acknowledge fee notes, any transaction fee, and click Finish.
  • Without automatic order assignment: You'll see a list of available vendors where you can make the selection for this order.  Also, depending on your Mercury Network settings, you may see a Modify Selection Settings tab at the top of this window. If you do, that means you can make changes to the available fee panel for this order.

If you're not the Mercury Network admin and have questions about your available selection settings, it's a good idea to talk to your Mercury Network admin.  If you are the Mercury Network admin or just need help understanding how these settings affect you, talk to Mercury Network's Client Relations team at 1-888-794-0455.  You can also find more info about selection settings in the user's guide here.

Check status and view documents

After you've placed a Mercury Network order in BytePro, you'll be able to retrieve status updates and documents associated with the order within BytePro too. Here's how:

    1. In BytePro, open the loan file for which you want to retrieve the status or documents.
    2. Click Interfaces then choose Appraisal.
      Interfaces
    3. In the list, click Mercury Network.
Don't use Mercury Network Enhanced because that's intended for VMP XSite users.
      Mercury Network
    4. In the window that appears, click Check Status. This will download status updates from Mercury Network so you can view them in BytePro.

When all the available status updates and documents have been retrieved, you'll see them listed in the Status Messages window below.

There are a few things to know about how the status updates are displayed:

    • Updates are only retrieved when you click the Update Order button.
    • The updates are listed in the order they are retrieved from Mercury Network, so they might not appear in chronological order. This has no affect on the order's audit trail in Mercury Network.
    • Each update contains a message which may not be fully visible in the window. Since the message might contain important information about the status, you can double-click anywhere on the status to see the entire message in a pop-up window.

Also, any documents related to the order will be displayed in the Documents window below the status messages.  There are some things to know about the way documents are displayed:

    • The document names in the list reflect the name of the file that was uploaded.
    • If two files have the same name, they may be differentiated with _2 (or a different number.)
      Documents
    • Depending on the file size of the documents being downloaded, this process may take a while. Don't be alarmed if it takes a little longer than expected.
    • You can double-click the document in the list to view it within BytePro. However, there are some types of files that are not visible in BytePro.  These files will not be listed in the Documents window, but are still attached to the Mercury Network order.  If you need to view any file other than the types listed below, you can log into Mercury Network.
